45th ANNIVERARY
St. Mary’s is celebrating its 45th year of ministry in Palmetto. We are preparing to celebrate this anniversary on Sunday, November 14, at 4 PM. Bishop Smith will be at St. Mary’s as celebrant preacher for the Holy Eucharist and Confirmation. So, we need to start NOW to prepare ourselves and our plant to celebrate our anniversary of mission and ministry.
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION MINISTRY
Our Fall Christian Education program will begin with Rally Day on Sunday, September 12. I am asking all the congregation who think our Christian Education is a vital ministry of the church (which I hope is all of us) to meet at 9:45 AM in the Church Hall. We will review our ministry, resources for children, youth, and adults.
At 10 AM, we will move to the church for a Holy Eucharist, a Children's Sermon and celebration of Christian Formation. Our theme: "Hearing God’s Word."
CONFIRMATION CLASSES
Confirmation classes begin September 19 for all adults interested in Confirmation, Reaffirmation, and Reception. Interested Youth will meet Sunday morning at their regular class time. Adults will meet on three special Confirmation Conferences:
Saturday, September 18, 9 AM – 11 AM
Saturday, September 25, 9 AM – 1 PM
Saturday, October 16, 9 AM – 1 PM
The conference will be repeated on three additional deates for the convenience of those who wish to attend and participate. Each adult candidate should give his/her name and phone number to Fr. Jim. Please call Fr. Jim at the church office, 722-5292, or cell phone, 920-2189.
FAMILYPROMISE
St. Mary’s will be hosting the evening meal on September 13 for the families who are being served by Family Promise. The hours are 5 PM – 8 PM. In order for our church to serve the community in this manner, we are in need of the following volunteers:
2. Two volunteers to host the meal which will include a main dish, vegetables, dessert, and drink.
3. A coordinator to assist with the children.
Anyone interested in being involved in this ministry is asked to sign-up for a brief orientation to be held on Sunday, September 5 after the 10 AM service in the Parish Library. The meeting will be brief, not more than 30 minutes!!!
